The Technical Consultant (Network and Security) is responsible for pre-Sales, design, deployment and transition of new and existing network and security services both within Pulsant locations and customer premises, using a range of fixed/wireless networking technologies and associated tooling. 


The consultant will work alongside the Sales, Solutions Architects and Project Management to commission small to large scale IT networking solutions within Delivery.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and commission high quality network and security solutions that meet Pulsant standards and fulfils the requirements of Pulsant’s customer.
  • Assist and advise customers, sales and solutions architects, providing subject matter expertise at each stage of design, deployment and support process.
  • Contribute towards project or bid design and other written deployment/pre-deployment documentation.


Skills & Experience

  • Experience of complex networks and Data Centre network architectures.
  • Experience of working within an ISP or Telco environment.
  • Strong experience with using service provider level Cisco routing/switching equipment, F5 NLBs, Juniper routers.
  • Experience with Enterprise routing protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP, ideally in SP networks.
  • Experience with Cisco ASA firewall design and deployment, incorporating IPSEC and SSL protocols.
  • Experience with other network technologies, including; HSRP/VRRP/GLBP, STP/RSTP/MSTP, Dot1q, QinQ, LAG/LACP, MTUs, CAM, ARP, CDP.
  • Experience with CAT5 and fibre cabling and Data Centres cabling management.
